Waz up music world! .. what a week indeedy in the Atlanta area. Ice literally froze the City. A zombie apocalypse; almost.   But as the saying goes, wait a few days and the weather will change.  Hearing so much great talent out there and looking forward to collaborating and recording with some of my favorite artists in the coming months. With the help of  Pamela Polland on vocals, I'm happy to announce that my first EP release will take place in the near future with yours truly on the mic. I'll continue to work hard and sing my heart out. This is exciting!

Thanks for all your support! This is gonna get crazy in a good way. Thanks so much & enjoy the weekend!  ~ sk

"Songs for a Cause."

Music moves mountains. Everything we've ever experienced, lived, or have ever known can be found in music. From vinyl records, to eight tracks (yes I said eight tracks), to cassettes, to CDs.. and now to digital downloads, .. we've come so far. Now music can travel across any continent in an instant. The scope is grand.  It's a universal language we all understand and relate to.

We're all familiar with "benefit shows," and we all tend to support them. Especially for causes to help those we love, and those in need. The support for this song, "Is This The End," has been GREAT! Like a benefit show, this song has a purpose. The purpose to bring awareness to a debilitating and mostly misunderstood disease.. (Lupus). "Songs for a Cause" can connect and bring many good folks together for a single purpose. Most importantly, committing a song to a purpose can energize other musicians/songwriters to do the same. It's not a new idea, but one worth repeating.

Show up for a cause and let your voice be heard. That's all I ask. As I sit here typing my personal thoughts, I reflect on the history of music.. and its place in our daily lives. Our emotions - happiness, sadness, hope, loneliness, excitement, anger.. the list goes on and on. These are human emotions we all have experienced. All these emotions can be found somewhere in a song.

So "Sing This Song Faith Hill!" .. It's a HIT for sure. This is not just another song, but a "Song for a Cause." for Lupus.

The making of "Is This The End?"

Thought I would share a little on the making of the song. Just to fill you in, I've completed about fifteen songs as "rough cuts." They're called rough cuts for a reason. :)  I never stop writing. It's an ongoing process. I string a set of songs together.. then choose from that "set" of songs to record demos. I'm very excited about sharing more songs for all to hear.

"Is This The End" was written around a piano piece I thought of while cooking. I recall hastily making my way to the back bedroom (where I record), .. & spending four to five hours piecing it together. I was never content with the chorus.. & changed it up three to four months later. Once I changed the chorus, I could really FEEL the emotion. After that, I never grew tired of it.

The song leaves an unresolved result to the listener by asking "Is This The End?".. & never completely answering the question. But for the hopeful, .. hope is given at the end of the second verse .. where it says "But thinking back at all the times we shared.. reminds me of the past and how we dared.. to pick up all the pieces.. and wipe away the tears."

This song demo was recorded in Berkeley, CA by Garth Webber and Pamela Polland. Both are wonderful to work with & super talented musicians. The amazing part is that this song traveled from my home in Atlanta.. all the way to Hawaii (where Pamela lives).. and back to the mainland in California. Now it's reaching folks all over the U.S. !! This concept is just remarkable.

The next "song demo"  will be completed within the next few weeks. Stay tuned.. & KEEP THEFAITH! .. ;-) .... s

Many things to share. I'm just so overwhelmed at the moment by all the support for this campaign. It's been such an unexpected surprise. As this campaign moves forward, I want to share all I can about our progress. As I've stated before, I can't do this alone. There's a new world out there for all to participate. And I'm grateful to each and every person who has jumped on board for this cause. You're pushing us forward!

This cause runs very deep with me. My wife was diagnosed some 10+ years ago with Lupus. It's been a battle just to contain it. As you know, Lupus can affect any organ/organ system in the body at any given time. In Teri's (my wife) case, it's attacked her GI tract. This has led to not only Gastroparesis, but to Colonic Inertia of the Colon. Just recently, my wife underwent major surgery to remove the Colon (Colectomy). The recovery stage has been rough. For now, it's trial and error with food. We learn something new everyday and will continue to battle on together.

So make no mistake. I'm on a mission. Through music, I want to make a difference. And it's evident, by your enthusiastic response.. You do to! .. This gives me great hope and encourages me to march on. A BIG Thanks to each and every one of you. Every one of you makes a difference.
